And of course there's all the many fun things that come with this time of year. One of which is baking with fresh pumpkins right from the garden. There's nothing better that I like to do for an afternoon than to bake some of this yummy spicy pumpkin bread. I've made 2 batches so far, and we're practically obsessed with it! Another of our much loved faves is this cinnamon swirl pear bread. I've made it with apples too~ how's that for a salubrious hot-from-the-oven fragrance? On the whole, and all things considered, this is my favorite time of year!
So while we are admiring the magnificent splendor of God's handiwork and thanking Him for it, take time to encourage and uplift a weary soul. Even just a soft answer or a small act of kindness can go a long way! And to end this post on a slightly different note, I'd like to close with this poem by Amy Carmichael that a sweet friend of mine sent to me. Food for thought!
And shall I pray Thee change Thy will, my father,
Until it be according unto mine?
But no, Lord, that never shall be.
Rather, I pray Thee, blend my human will with Thine.
I pray Thee hush the hurrying, eager longing,
I pray thee soothe the pangs of keen desire-
See in my quiet places, wishes thronging-
Forbid them, Lord, purge, though it be with fire.
And work in me to will and do Thy pleasure
Let all within me, peaceful, reconciled,
Tarry content my Well- Beloved’s leisure,
At last, at last, even as a weaned child.

Wow, those are some beautiful pictures Danielle. Especially the first one.
I know!!!! I absolutely *LOVE* pictures of Autumn! I count myself blessed to have stumbled upon these. They're just simply pretty~full!
Thanks for posting those, Dani! I miss Fall so much!!!
So there's no Fall in Australia? Weird! :)
I know they don't have winter in Australia, but it never really occurred to me that the weather doesn't get cold enough to turn the leaves. I feel sympathetic for you dear Kim! I'm glad you enjoyed the photos.:)
I misspelled something in the last comment, that is why it is gone, lol. Anyway this is what I said,
I did not know that Australia had no winter, I thought it was the same as here, only the seasons were backwards.
Australia is close enough to the equator that it doesn't really get cold weather, except I think it does snow up in the mountains. They just have 2 seasons; wet and dry....
Well Kim, maybe you can help us out a little bit~ you live there!
Beautiful photos, Dani! I am still waiting to see some of the leaves turn in this area... though most of them will not. Fall has always been my favorite season, too. Mostly because it's the same time as Thanksgiving, which is a calm-cheery and full of thankful people. When I get back to Idaho/Washington (Lord willing, next Fall...), I'll make SURE to not take for granted the beautiful Autumn scenery. :)
Thanks for the post! :)
I love Amy Carmichael, so thank you so much for sharing her poem! You have a beautiful blog, and I'm glad I stopped by. What originally brought me here, however, is the fact that you won our Lilla Rose Giveaway! Congratulations! I'm so excited you won! Mrs. Moore should be getting in touch with you shortly.
Blessings!
